CSIR-NET/JRF is national-level exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for determining the eligibility of Indian Nationals for the award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) and for determining eligibility for appointment of Lecturers (LS) in Indian universities and colleges subjected to fulfilling the eligibility criteria laid down by UGC. Winning JRF will help a candidate to secure a teaching job as well as the chance of doing research under CSIR scholarship. The eligibility to appear for the NET/JRF is a pass in the post graduate course with 55% marks for General (UR) and OBC candidates and 50% for SC/ST, Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates. On-line applications for JRF/NET are invited twice a year through press notification and also made available on the website : www.csirhrdg.res.in .The Test will be usually held in June/December.
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an examination conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and the seven Indian Institutes of Technology on the comprehensive understanding of the candidates in various undergraduate subjects in Engineering/Technology/Architecture and post-graduate level subjects in Science. GATE will be conducted for 25 subjects and it usually commences in the first and second weekends of February every year. GATE examination is a Computer Based Test (CBT).
